Sql Server - Micra Cloud Services

SQL Server

SQL (Structured Query Language) Server is developed by Microsoft. It is a RDBMS (Relational Database Management System). This term means two things, (I) the data stored inside server is housed in a “relational database” and (II) the SQL server is a complete “management system” and, not just a database. It is used for the basic functions of storing & managing the information and administering the database server.

It can either run on the same computer or on another across a network (including Internet). The SQL statements are utilized for performing several tasks like updating data on the database or retrieving data from a database. The standard SQL commands like "Insert", "Create", "Update", "Select", "Delete", and "Drop" can be utilized for accomplishing almost everything, which one needs to do with a database.

Why SQL Server

Here are the reasons why should one go for SQL Server:-

It's cheaper:

It’s a lot cheaper than Oracle, which means, companies that are conscious about the price can easily go for it.

Easy Integration with Microsoft products.

It can be easily integrated with other Microsoft products such as SharePoint, .NET languages, SSRS, SSAS, SSIS etc.

It’s Speedy:

Its queries can be utilized for retrieving the large amounts of records from a database efficiently.

Well Defined Standards Exist:

It uses a long-established standard that is also being adopted by ANSI and ISO. NON-SQL databases don’t adhere to any clear standard.

No Coding Required:

It is easier to manage the database systems using SQL without having to write substantial amount of codes.

Emergence of ORDBMS:

With the emergence of the Object Oriented Database Management System, object storage capabilities are extended to the relational database.

Other Benefits:

It can be used for:-

1. Analyzing data via SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services).

2. Developing and maintaining database.

3. Generating reports through SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services).

4. Carrying out ETL operations through SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services).

5. Integrating other Microsoft Products.

6. Lower medium salaries.
